How do we protect your Data? At best, it would be naive for us to declare that your data is 100% safe from cyber criminals. 100% percent security is a fallacy. We take several precautions to ensure to ensure your data is not subject to unauthorised access. Some of the steps we take include, but are not limited to:
  • Ensuring our staff are constantly made aware of their responsibilities towards protecting your personal information.
  • We believe in transparency and are always prepared to own up when things go wrong. We will keep you and the regulators posted when things go wrong and also let you know what we did to recover from such incidents.
How do we process your Data? We primarily rely on our webmaster, IS&T, our web host, Pair Networks, Inc, and our payment gateway, Authorize.net to host or process your personal information.  This approach, (nothing is 100 percent secure) allows for far more expertise and efficiency to control access to your data.  We utilize Google and Wordpress as data processors.

How do we obtain your Data? We use multiple methods of obtaining your data including:
  • Online forms on theabma.org and any subdomains on this website
  • Paper forms submitted to the CFO for membership or conference attendance
  • Direct emails to us from you, the member or non-member
How long do we keep your information? Since the ABMA is a member-driven organization and access to certain areas of the website are restricted to members, we retain your personal information so the website recognizes you as a current member and allows you to access member areas.  Expired memberships are also retained in the event you wish to renew then your username can be utilized again with a current payment.

How do we dispose of your data? We primarily rely on Google and Wordpress to host your data.  To that extent, we rely on those parties and our third parties to ensure that they:
  • Remove your data when we hit the “delete” or remove button
  • Allocate your data in the “Do not Email” bucket when you unsubscribe from our mailing lists
Complete Transparency - when attackers succeed When discussing a data breach - It’s not a matter of IF but WHEN a business is attacked and compromised.  To that extent, we believe in being fully transparent with you and the ICO and any other regulators. Our webmaster is constantly on the lookout for criminal activity on our networks and systems.  When discovered they invoke their cyber incident response plan and take the necessary steps to either stop the ongoing attack and or take sensible response measures to mitigate the impact to the ABMA and our membership.

Do we use cookies? Yes.  Like most businesses, we collect information to provide better services to all our users- members or non-members.  The primary reason to use cookies- honestly, we feel it makes your life easier.  Once you fill in a form we can remember it’s you next time you visit us.
